Biography

Carsten Hohnke is a senior-level strategy executive who specializes in deploying advanced analytics and business insights to solve complex business problems, capitalize on opportunities, and maintain a rapid growth trajectory.

Throughout his extensive management and consulting background, he has provided astute, data-driven guidance to executive management teams and boards at rapidly expanding tech-enabled businesses.

Recently Senior Managing Director of Strategy and Analytics at Home Point Capital, Inc., a $1B SaaS-driven financial services company, Carsten helmed cross-functional teams for strategic initiatives that leveraged analytics and data science (BI, predictive analytics, data warehouse, machine learning, AI) across the entire business.

An experienced multi-disciplinary project manager with deep experience in the voice of the customer, he recently led teams that increased repeat business 25% and piloted a machine-learning technology that will improve customer call center workflow, trim quality control costs, and boost customer engagement and conversion.

Prior Experience

In prior C-level roles with early and growth-stage SaaS companies, Carsten delivered customer and marketing analytics and launched advanced, automated business intelligence capabilities that accelerated information delivery, elevated data quality, improved product development, and opened new revenue channels.

Working cross-functionally with key stakeholders across the business, he provided best-in-class solutions to address the unique analytics needs of each function.

During his seven-year tenure with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Carsten influenced strategic decisions of the $400M agency and held direct responsibility for a corporate research and analytics team. He established analytics capabilities, defined analytics strategy, and refined data into an impactful strategic plan.

As a result, the agency eclipsed prior-year performance 103%, lowered expenses 35%, rationalized its investment portfolio, and redirected $50M to higher-return products and services to drive strategic fit, growth, and ROI.

Carsten holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Previously he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Physiological Psychology from the University of Michigan.
